- 2 tbsp (30 ml) unsalted butter
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) extra-virgin olive oil
- ½ red onion, cut lengthwise into thin slices

- Freshly ground black pepper
- 16 oz (480 g) penne pasta
- 2 tbsp (30 ml) fresh dill
- Heat the butter and oil in a large skillet. Add the onion and cook, stirring over low heat until tender, about 5 minutes. Do not brown. Add the asparagus and stir-fry until crisp-tender, about 5 minutes. Remove from the heat.
- Add the salmon to the skillet and stir to blend. Sprinkle with pepper to taste.
- Cook the pasta in plenty of boiling, salted water, stirring occasionally, until al dente, about 8-10 minutes. Drain the pasta and return it to the pot.
